Introduction

About the Cinnamon-vanilla-cardamom latte

It is said that cinnamon, vanilla and cardamom latte is a drink for quiet winter days when you would rather lose yourself in a book than in the noise of the world. Its ingredients tell tales of distant travels: cinnamon was once brought to Europe by Venetian traders from Ceylon, cardamom via Arab trade routes, and vanilla was brought back from the gardens of Mexico like a treasure.
In the 19th century, these spices were valued not only for their taste but also for their symbolism: cinnamon for warmth, cardamom for healing powers, and vanilla for comfort. They were sold in old pharmacies as well as in the best coffee houses in the cities.
Today, the cinnamon-vanilla-cardamom latte may be a modern classic, but it carries echoes of a time when every cup was a small celebration. And when the aroma of these three spices wafts through the kitchen, you may sense some of that old magic that once began with a steaming mug.
